Ultrasound phantom with solids mimicking cancerous tissue for needle breast biopsy

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study aimed at synthesizing hydrogels to simulate opaque breast tissue (BT) and coloured cancerous tissues (CT) different densities of the designed phantom improve biopsy-related skills along with ultrasonography. Both are tear-resistant therefore, can be trained multiple times in order lower price eye-hand coordination users. For this purpose, self-healing (SH) polyacrylamide (PAAm) (SH hydrogel) obtained by free-radical polymerization AAm, presence chemical cross-linker, BAAm, physical cross-linker stearyl methacrylate, C18, ammonium persulfate APS as initiator were used design phantoms. Psyllium was added BT differentiate density obtain human skin color it could distinguished from CT which also colored methyl violet. CTs characterized FTIR spectroscopy, mechanical, swelling, refractive index measurements. Designing phantoms ultrasonography, mechanical tests, observation needle track after biopsy, stabilization tests follow behaviours time. As a result study, self-healing, low-cost, suitable for multi-usage ultrasonographic biopsy successfully detected.

Concordance Rate between Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy and Core Needle Biopsy in Breast Lesions

Background and Objectives:Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide. Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) is one of the methods of breast biopsy which is fast, easy and cost effective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the concordance rate between pathologic results of sonography or stereotaxy guided FNAB and guided core needle biopsy (CNB) in the evaluation of breast le...

Stereotactic and ultrasound core needle breast biopsy performed by surgeons.

BACKGROUND The authors evaluated outcomes and treatment costs of stereotactic core needle biopsy (SCNB) and ultrasound core needle biopsy (UCNB), and needle localization biopsy (NLB) in managing patients with mammographic abnormalities presenting to the surgeon. METHODS Data for all patients with mammographic lesions who underwent SCNB or UCNB since their introduction at this institution were...

Ultrasound-guided core-needle biopsy of breast lesions

OBJECTIVE: To review the role of ultrasound-guided core-needle biopsy (CNB) in the management of breast lesions. METHODS: Review of the most relevant literature on this topic. RESULTS: This technique shows a high sensitivity value of about 97.5% and it offers many advantages over other imaging techniques to guide a biopsy: non-ionising radiation, low cost, full control of the needle in real t...

Novel tissue mimicking materials for high frequency breast ultrasound phantoms.

The development and acoustical characterisation of a range of novel agar-based tissue mimicking material (TMMs) for use in clinically relevant, quality assurance (QA) and anthropomorphic breast phantoms are presented. The novel agar-based TMMs described in this study are based on a comprehensive, systematic variation of the ingredients in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TMM....

Thoracic ultrasound-assisted selection for pleural biopsy with Abrams needle.

BACKGROUND Closed pleural biopsy (CPB) in patients with malignant pleural effusion is less sensitive than cytology. Ultrasound-assisted CPB allows biopsies to be performed in the lower thoracic parietal pleura, where secondary spread from pleural metastases is initially more likely to be found. We analyzed whether choosing the point of entry for CPB with thoracic ultrasound assistance influence...
